M. Garrett

"With the end of duality and the opening of the Cosmic Eye, we are now moving up into pure consciousness. Self-actualization is upon us. In Tibetan Buddhism the third eye chakra is the last of the chakras. In Kundalini Meditation there is a seventh, final chakra: The Sahasrara chakra, the Crown Chakra."

+M. Garrett I came across a post you plussed on Fractal Enlightenment, which was tremendously authentic and profound. I did not want to share my comments publicly, so I am sharing them with you here. I think you have the capacity to meditate to this level. It is a process that culminates into the apex gradually and very few reach that stage. An ancient Indian Yogi Jnyaneshwar, has a complete account of it in one of his works. It is a blend of poetry and mysticism at its rarest and best.

Thank you +Sushama Karnik for thinking of me in such a context. I've studied the chakras online only, and have never had any idea where I might be needing to focus more of my attention during my daily meditations. That type of information sounds delightful to me.

Believe me when I tell you I live in a place that not only doesn't understand these spiritual ideas, but the "one true God" forms of dogma that surround me treat these practices nearly as 'heresy'. I'm essentially in the Bible Belt of the US here and my entire family and friends think meditation and spiritual practice in general is just a bunch of hooey.

I mention this because you may find it interesting that I've never had a teacher to lead me to these things, but my spirit seemed to lite the way for me during times of intense internal struggle, thus forming the only methods I've ever known and use daily.

I had what I believe I'll call a "great awakening" in early 2008, during early recovery following a near-death experience in Dec2007. During this awakening experience I was in my home, just meditating my way to peace, harmony, and connection, when this tremendously powerful but calm force of what felt like pure, connected-to-everything energy came through my mind and moved through my whole body simultaneously. I still refer to it as the Source, I'm not sure why.

Thing was it was almost like I recognized it even though I had never experienced it before. I know that sounds confusing, but I think words fail with something like this. I've never been able to explain that experience to anyone except that I felt more alive and connected to everything than I ever had before, and that light of awareness (I'm grateful) doesn't seem to switch off once it's come on.

I found it remarkable in the story of the Buddha that after his great awakening one of the things that was unexpected yet tested him the most was that, "post-awakening" he was still surrounded by nearly all people who were not awakened at any level, and this was affecting his own happiness, sort of pulling his connection level down, reducing his own energy.

Buddhas answer was (reportedly) to be of service to those people around him in bringing about some of their own awakenings, thus altering the pools of energy that surrounded him every day and also by finding joy through those interactions and through that service. I guess that's a snapshot of where I'm at now, trying to figure out that same challenge in a very different time/world, and a very different cultural "place" within it. A big part of me wants to just go to where most are already awakened, or at least a lot more than here. I'm drawn in meditation to the Western US, but am given no current path there, so I conclude my work is not yet done where I am, practice patience and service where I am, practice forgetting "the self" and remembering the "interconnected whole" stuff like that.

But I feel it also must be said that connecting with other awakened spirits through G+ (like you, right now) is something I express gratitude for in my meditations every day. They bring me joy from a distance that Einstein would have to have called "spooky." Little science joke. Namaste

If you have any links or YouTube videos or anything that will help me to center in on the crown chakra, I'd be very interested indeed - thank you.
I remember the post you're talking about and I read every word. I even remember the graphic with the two petals.
