MIRACLES AND THE DARK

MIRACLES AND THE DARK

There were those who wished death for me;
wished I would vanish step by step and not come back alive.
Scathed by the venom and the dart
I was all distraught
The thorn lodged deep in the heart,
and I was deaf and dumb in despair.
That was just a glimpse of what the world could do
if given a leeway to invade my world.
And that glimpse grew and swallowed me;
I could not see a Third Eye watching,
trying desperately hard to reach out and speak.
I, in my blindness did not see the love far greater than the venom that spread, subtle and deep.
It was a miracle that love could reach
a sinking soul and its agony,
the moments when the darkness magnifies all the seeds of ignorance and deadly ills,
were manifesting in a grievous certainty of the doom, killing all that was worth preserving in me.
The forces of hostile armies rallied
and arrayed on both sides and the world watched in glee
an isolated being
dying step by step. That too was a glimpse of how hostilities, unwarranted lurking in the dark,
suddenly seize the frail chance
of striking and venting the rancour nursed inside for long.

Your voice came riding over the crest of the tide.
That too was a glimpse
of how the divinity can manifest in the dark
when the world seems bleak and apocalyptic, stark
and the forces reign
of the hostile inlux of the satanic sparks.

The hours of such dark
have come and gone time and again.
each visit in the past, leaving behind indelible scars.
And yet i am vulnerable and raw, unequal to the challenges thrown with no warning.
This rawness, this vulnerability , is the hardest test i have to give
again and again in life and I fail
in spite of triumphs  all around.

Khalil Gebran

Khali Gebran

They say to me
in their awakening,
“You and the world you live in
are but a grain of sand
upon the infinite shore
of an infinite sea.”

And in my dream
I say to them,
“I am the infinite sea,
and all worlds are
but grains of sand
upon my shore."

Translation : Kal Teri

The night passed as I looked at you
shining in this image, a mere photograph on my desk.
I bowed and looked to my heart's content;
the night passed as I looked at you.
And the moon entered as I watched,
to fill the sky with light,
and the stars followed ,
They swaggered and followed behind
as if the moon was all their own,
and truly, I was hurt.
And all this while you were lost in the world of dreams
unaware of me, unaware of how the moon
touched me to tear at my heart
